Gatehouse Tea Rooms – Parramatta

Nicely tucked inside Parramatta Park, Gatehouse Tea Rooms is definitely not your ordinary venue.

To start, the building was built in 1887 and is a significant part of the colonial history of Parramatta and in 2007 was granted the World Heritage Listing by UNESCO.

Once you enter this venue, you will forget for a moment that you are in the middle of the busy city of Parramatta.

There is a seating area outside, around the house and also inside the house. I chose the seating area just next to the garden.

It was a beautiful day and I loved looking at the garden and the colourful flowers.

The table setting was beautiful and I felt like royalty walking in.

Obviously, it’s the ‘Tea Rooms’ and I came for a High Tea experience. But first, Coffee for me.

Even though they specialise in tea, their coffee is amazing. Strong and aromatic, love it!
Then it was time for the High Tea to start.
Love the display of the sweet and savoury goodies.

From the bottom up, you’ll get:
– a selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches and mini quiches.

Such great savoury treats to start!

Then the scrumptious scones with jam and cream came along..

They were perfect! I really appreciated the generous portion of jam and cream given. To maximise the indulgent moments 🙂

Last but definitely not least, my favourite, which is the top level of the High Tea: a selection of homemade petite fours and sweet bites.

To be honest, I spent probably too much time taking photos before jumping in and enjoying these sweet treats! Every piece was really photogenic so I needed to make sure I captured their beauty.

As expected, every single treat was indulgent and delightful! Every single bite was full of ooooh and aaah if you know what I mean 🙂

If you also want to ‘wine’ down, you might wanna choose the option of ‘Sparkling High Tea’ (High Tea is Served with a glass of Australian sparkling wine).

The whole experience was really lovely. To be able to just sit back, relax and enjoy high tea in a stunning historic building, is not something you can easily do every day.

From the savoury to the sweet treats, all were beautiful inside and out – hence I couldn’t resist taking more and more photos 🙂

Of course, if you prefer to just have a light meal, you can too.
On top of High Tea, they serve Light Meals and Snacks such as savoury muffins, baked egg frittatas, croissants, seasonal fruit salad and more.

Overall, I really enjoyed my High Tea experience here at Gatehouse Tea Rooms.
